Boss Café (Plus GIVEAWAY!)

It’s evident, with the growing number of beverage joints: the bubble tea trend is here to stay.

Boss Café is taking the trend up a notch, and gives it its own twist. In addition to the usual suspects – such as bubble tea containing a tea base mixed with fruit or milk and ice blended varieties – they have come up with idiosyncratic beverages that distinguish them from any other bubble tea joint.

Thanks to Catherine who introduced Boss Café to me, this hidden find is unearthed.

How did Boss Café come about?

Three good friends teamed up to form a beverage joint, with a fervent desire to break boundaries; these three young, passionate and creative entrepreneurs are set on re-igniting the bubble-tea-drinking phenomenon, and re-furbish notion of bubble tea –to not only be just a thirst-quencher, but also to become an additional accessory to modern lifestyle.

Inspired by the massively popular Internet catchphrase “Like a Boss” (often used as a hashtag for twitter posts about completing an action with authority and finesse, or posting successful actions they are proud of doing), Boss café seeks to incorporate the brand into consumers’ lifestyles –“Drink it like a boss”.

With the 3 bosses of Boss Café :) I LOVE THEIR TEE!!! Is it for sale?

Soft Serve Milk Tea ($2.50)

While its location is slightly obscure, loyal customers spreading via word of mouth is working in their favour. Hopefully with my blog post, you will be enticed to try them out :)

For those living in the vicinity of Ang Mo Kio, Boss Café is a must-try! For those who stay at the other end of Singapore, do consider the fact that there are many yummy foods around here –such as local delights at Blk 724 just a few steps away (where I patronise regularly for their Fried Kway Teow, Carrot Cake, Mee Pok, Yong Tau Fu, Fried Hokkien Mee and Porridge) and the endless choices at Ang Mo Kio Hub.

Jazzy Berries Smoothie ($3.20)

The menu is pretty extensive! To replenish your body’s cooling system in the sweltering heat, go for the smoothies. You can choose from 5 flavours –chocolate banana delight, orange sunburst, mango tango, jazzy berries and feelin’ peachy.

Red Hot Fantasy Slushie ($3)

The slushies are another great option to beat the heat. The Red Hot Fantasy comprises strawberry and orange fruit concentrate, while the Tropical Tango comprises lime and peach fruit concentrate. The slush machine churns at a constant speed, thus ensuring a smooth and undoubtedly slushy consistency.

You can choose from a range of toppings, but according to the Boss Café crew, konjac jelly goes best with the slushies! I nod in agreement after taking a sip.

Calpis Yoghurt Flavour Burst –Pink Guava ($2.90)

One of the highlights for me was the Calpis Yoghurt Flavour Burst, imported from Japan. These firm bubbles, the size of pearls, burst with what I thought tasted like yakult but is called Calpis –a refreshing yoghurt flavoured solution. This is highly addictive!

Choose from a range of flavours: Original, Orange, Mango, Strawberry, Lime, Grape, Soursop and Pink Guava.

Did you know that pink guava is considered a “Super Fruit” for its nutritional value and benefits? This anti-aging and immune-boosting fruit provides 3 times the recommended daily intake of vitamin C and is a good source of vitamin A!

Under the ‘Boss Specials’ is a range of soft serve beverages – Soft Serve Tea ($2), Soft Serve Milk Tea ($2.50), Soft Serve Calpis ($2.50) and Soft Serve Chocolate ($2.70) – that are distinctly Boss Café.

They invested a whopping $13.5k in this soft serve machine! Jaw dropping, but I think the money is well spent –it’s #LikeABoss delicious.

And unlike most commercial ice cream, containing about 35% fat, Boss Café’s soft serve ice cream contains only 5% fat without compromising on taste and texture. It is sufficiently rich and creamy without the guilt.

GIMME MORE.

Soft Serve Chocolate ($2.70)

The Soft Serve Chocolate is a personal favourite! I’m craving for it at this very instant…

Here’s a GIVEAWAY to share the love :)
