Celebrate Christmas at ROAST, One Rochester

ROAST at One Rochester has always been a prime spot for cosy gatherings –known for their delectable sharing platters, and the lush foliage that surrounds the precinct.

Its concept is specially designed for group dining and sharing, which ties in well with the festive season of love.

This Christmas, 1-Rochester Group embraces the ethos of Christmas and stays true to the practice of celebrating Christmas on 24th December, bringing you a Christmas Eve menu of traditional Scandinavian delights.

It will be a night of scrumptious feasting with close companions and great conversations…

‘A Scandinavian Christmas’ Communal Menu ($85++ per person)

Apart from Christmas Eve, the menu is also available over the Christmas weekend on 21st and 22nd December.

Platter of Cheese and Ham

The perfect way to begin a meal is with a platter of cheese and ham to share. This is where great company meets great conversations, over some nibbling actions before the first course arrives.

Seafood platter –prawn and egg salad

The Scandinavian Seafood Platter arrives as the appetiser, comprising gravadlax, gin marinated ocean trout with horseradish, smoked eel and baby potato salad with dill sauce and prawn and egg salad.

Seafood platter –gravadlax

The pomegranate seeds helped balance the charming brackishness of the cured ocean trout beautifully, adding a nice crunch to every mouthful.

Seafood platter –smoked eel and baby potato salad

The dill sauce that complements the smoked eel possesses a nice balance of creamy and tangy notes.

Roast Turkey with Scandinavian fruit stuffing and lingonberry compote (Takeaway for $120+ each)

Judging from the size of this turkey, it can feed a party of 15. Humongous. It is twice cooked – steamed and roasted – to achieve tender perfection. I especially adore the stuffing consisting of pear, fig, juniper, pecan and bacon.

Swedish-style baked bone-in ham with mustard and thyme glaze, apple sauce (Takeaway for $35+ per KG)

I’m not a sucker for hams, but this one really strikes a chord with me. It is hearty and tender, with juicy moisture that is sometimes lacking in hams. It gives even more satisfaction to see a whole ham sliced before our very eyes.

Potato gratin

To accompany the meats, the potato gratin does a fine job in getting us hooked on carbohydrates. Love the fragrance of onions within. This is addictive. The freshly chopped chives also added a refreshing note to our palates, to help cut the richness of the gratin a little.

Grilled Sausages with red cabbage

Fish Pie

This unassuming dish, not particularly outstanding in the looks department, totally caught me off guard. I dived my spoon straight in, eager to discover the trove of ingredients underneath that beautifully golden flaky pastry. My spoon sunk into a liberal pool of sauce (milk in which the fish was cooked in), a milky sauce with consistency of creamy soup –it is so tasty I could drink it like soup.

The freshness of seafood shines despite being submerged in sauce. You will start noticing the faint hints of dill as you savour. The generous chunks of snapper, ocean trout, prawn and scallop are precisely executed to succulent perfection.

Festive Assiette –baby plum pudding

For dessert, a vividly presented platter of Festive Assiette ($28+) consists of baby plum pudding, orange earl grey crème brulee log cake, mixed nut caramel tart, warm berry cake, chestnut eggnog raisin mousse.
