DBS Supperclub with Chef Valtulina Valentino

I had the privilege of attending an exclusive after-hours Underground Supperclub event by DBS Indulge at Ristorante Da Valentino, all thanks to AFC’s invitation.

Chef Valtulina Valentino, owner and executive chef of Ristorante Da Valentino, is a true-blue Italian who embraces the traditions of Italian cuisine, adding a pinch of personal touch to each dish.

The menu is specially created for this DBS/POSB Credit and Debit Cardmembers-exclusive Supperclub event.

Bormio (name of a town in northern Italy) salad of apple, marinated onion, olives, nuts and ricotta

The salad is a superb combination of textures; it’s got the right amount of creaminess and crunchiness that I need to overcome the fact that I’m eating a whole lot of veggies.

Pan-fried Tomino cheese wrapped with Parma ham

A huge glob of cheese is wrapped in thinly sliced parma ham and fried to a crisp brown edge, encompassing melted oozy centre –a classic Italian starter that is simply favoloso.

Linguine crabmeat aglio olio

Every mouthful of the linguine crabmeat aglio olio leaves the palate with a lingering crustacean note that makes you crave for a second mouthful. The gentle and clean flavours on the whole allow the freshness of the seafood to shine.

Squid ink fettucine crabmeat in creamy tomato sauce

The homemade squid ink pasta is deeply gratifying; the sauce packs an impressive depth of flavour. This dish left a lasting impression on me.

Braised beef cheek served with fried luna potatoes

You might think we’d be stuffed from the preceding dishes, but when the braised beef cheek arrived, nobody could resist it.

Classic tiramisu

Desserts didn’t disappoint one bit either. I wanted to lick the glass clean.

Panna cotta of pistachio

This has got to be one of the best panna cottas I’ve ever had. I dislike the texture of nuts in general but I love the intense flavour of pistachio in this dessert. Impressive.
I love the whole homely and cosy vibe at Ristorante Da Valentino. It is furbished like an Italian home to create a relaxing and comfortable ambience. In spite of its rustic setting, service is top-notch.

These Supperclub events offer great opportunities to dine, mingle and engage in conversations with chefs and like-minded food lovers, instilling culinary knowledge along the way.
