Singapore is first among 25 countries to taste the new uniquely spicy Jalapeño TXtreme Chicken from Texas Chicken. Available for a limited time only across all 10 Texas Chicken outlets in Singapore, the Jalapeño TXtreme Chicken is marinated in a mix of jalapeño peppers, habanero peppers, garlic, chilli, onion and fennel among other ingredients for at least 12 hours before being battered and fried. Salsa seasoning is sprinkled on the fried chicken for the finishing touch.
The result is crunchy and juicy with a tangy undertone to the spicy kick.
The Jalapeño TXtreme Chicken meal is priced at $8.20, which includes two pieces of Jalapeño TXtreme Chicken, the sweet and savoury Honey Butter Biscuit, a side of your choice (choose between French fries, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and onion rings), and a drink.
My experiences at Texas Chicken at Nex have always been pleasant. However, my most recent visit to the outlet at VivoCity was simply unsatisfactory. The chicken pieces were far from juicy and succulent, while the crust wasn’t as enticingly crunchy. The inconsistency between outlets should be a cause for concern. Precision and passion in the kitchen is vital, and I hope the management won’t allow the minority to spoil the name of Texas Chicken.
List of outlets: Expo, Nex, The Star Vista, VivoCity, Causeway Point, Great World City, Changi City Point, Westgate, Gardens by the Bay and Changi Airport. (Price varies at Changi Airport and Gardens by the Bay outlets)
