(Mid-Autumn Festival 2014) Hua Ting Restaurant of Orchard Hotel

Recognised as one of the best Cantonese restaurants in Singapore, Hua Ting Restaurant of Orchard Hotel presents an array of mooncakes in celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival, with three new additions this year.

Hua Ting’s valued Chef Lap Fai introduces 3 new mooncake creations, namely the baked Milk Tea Lotus Paste with Melon Seeds, Mini Yam Snow Skin Lotus Paste with Champagne, and Mini Snow Skin Mango Paste with Preserved Mango.

The Mini Yam Snow Skin Lotus Paste with Champagne ($9/piece or $64 per box of 8) that’s swathed in a lovely shade of light pastel purple comes with a champagne-filled white chocolate in the epicentre. Not for the faint-hearted though –the alcohol content is pretty intense.

For something fruity, go for the Mini Snow Skin Mango Paste with Preserved Mango ($9/piece or $64 per box of 8) that incorporates real pumpkin into its skin. Tangy surprises await as you bite into it –you will find bits and small chunks of mango.

The Mini Snow Skin Purple Sweet Potato Paste with Chocolate ($9.50/piece or $68 per box of 8) is a personal favourite, with the Mini Snow Skin Custard with Yolk ($8.50/piece or $60 per box of 8) following closely at second place.

The oriental packaging is seemingly inspired by the olden-day Asian room divider, with a peek-through “window” revealing the mooncakes.
