(Mid-Autumn Festival 2014) Flaky Yam and Purple Sweet Potato Mooncakes from PUTIEN

Food that never fails to bring immense comfort and pleasure is food from the heart and for the soul. Come Mid-Autumn Festival, PUTIEN touches hearts with mooncakes that fit seamlessly in that category of food, made with love and dedication.

PUTIEN decides to hand over the important role of taking charge of mooncakes to the longest serving stalwart, Madam Leng Ah Eng, a motherly figure well loved by her colleagues. She has entranced both colleagues and patrons with her homemade mooncakes for the past decade.

Madam Leng Mooncakes – Yam w/ Single Yolk ($13/piece or $52 for a box of 4)

Mooncakes at PUTIEN come with an irresistibly crispy and flaky crust, filled with either yam or purple sweet potato, with an option of a salted egg yolk centre. The mooncakes are freshly made upon order and can only keep for 3 days, containing zero preservatives and additives.

Madam Leng Mooncakes – Purple Sweet Potato ($13.75/piece or $48 for a box of 4)

The Purple Sweet Potato mooncake that’s not commonly found in Singapore wins my vote. Low in sugar yet satisfyingly tasty, this mooncake treat is bound to please palates across all ages and ethnicity.
