Sunday Garden Party by the Sea at Barnacles, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa

Weekends are for family bonding; Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa makes for the perfect location to spend the day with your entire family. Barnacles is offering a fun-filled dining package from January 2013, whereby you needn’t have to book a hotel room in order to enjoy the facilities, from 12 till 6pm.

The Sunday Garden Party by the Sea includes a seafood buffet spread, replete with a children’s buffet corner at Barnacles.

From 12 to 3pm, be prepared to feast on all your senses with the sumptuous seafood spread, laid out in an idyllic setting by the waterfront, with lush gardens as a backdrop. The comprehensive array of appetisers, soups, pasta, meat carvings, seafood and grills will leave you spoilt for choice.

While adults graze on pristinely fresh seafood, the little ones are entertained with a host of activities ranging from magic shows to balloon sculpting.

The kiddie buffet corner encompasses all-time favourites such as fish and chips, spaghetti, finger food and mini cornetto ice cream cones. There are also kid-friendly utensils to match.

Here is something for the cheese lovers to obsess about; there is a selection of over 12 types of gourmet cheese imported from France.

Parma Ham with Melon; Tuna Tataki with Asparagus

If you’re a small eater who favour light bites by the poolside, these dainty canapé-style appetisers will bring you delight.

Goose Liver with Figs

The Tuna Tataki with Asparagus and Goose Liver with Figs are two of my favourite appetisers. You can also find items like Quail egg with Caviar and Smoked Chicken Roll perched amongst the spread.

What steals the show is a multi-tiered seafood tower –of fresh prawns, Alaskan king crab legs, lobsters, and deep-sea oysters flown in from the French coast.

This is a dining haven for seafood lovers.

Justin’s mum enjoyed the seafood selection the most!

The lobster bisque is a must-have.

Both soups turn out to be immensely comforting! Two thumbs up.

Seared Hokkaido Scallops wrapped in Bacon

There are less than 10 scallops sitting out in the spread at a time. The chefs are highly efficient in replenishing them as soon as they’ve been demolished, therefore ensuring quality and crispness.

There’s beef, lamb and chicken at the live carving station, sliced only upon request so as to lock in the moisture and juiciness.

Describing the meats as tender and succulent would be an understatement. I’m very impressed!

Roasted Potatoes

Grab some roasted potatoes to accompany your proteins.

At the grill station, go for the salmon! Surprisingly tender for barbecued fish. There are about five varieties of sauces to pair your proteins with.

Well-marinated lamb waiting to be grilled!

The lamb is also noteworthy. It doesn’t get any better than this at buffets.

At the risotto station, you can choose your own ingredients to go with the plump grains of rice.

You can opt for mushroom or seafood, or a combination of both in your risotto.

I never knew salmon would go so well with risotto. I’m now deeply in love with this pairing!

Apple Pie

The dessert station is no less spectacular. There are macarons, chocolate pralines, a chocolate fondue and every little sweet thing that will make your heart skip a beat.

Raspberry Chocolate Mud Cake

The Raspberry Chocolate Mud Cake is one of my favourites! It is moist and chocolaty goodness.

Chocolate Pudding

Pavlova

The Pavlova is another personal favourite. Soft, creamy and comforting, this dessert is light on the stomach, with fruits cutting the richness overall.

The lively ambience is further accentuated with the high-spirited band.

As part of the Sunday Garden Party by the Sea package, diners get to enjoy complimentary access to the resort’s natural-water swimming pool, children’s slides and splash pad, where the family can spend the entire day basking in the sun.

The pool employs a particle physics-based water management system that keeps water at its most pristine and natural form; parents can rest assured that these facilities do not incur chlorine-related risks such as skin and eye irritations.

After all the fun activities, guests can enjoy one-for-one drinks at the Siloso Beach Bar from 5 to 6pm.

For those who drive, there is free parking on a first come first served basis.

The Sunday Garden Party by the Sea is priced at $138++ per adult. One child 12 or under dines for free when accompanied by a paying adult. $38++ is chargeable for each additional child.
