Jamie Oliver Foundation launched its first-ever Food Revolution Day on 19 May 2012; a global day of action to inspire, educate and empower people all over the world to stand up for real food.
Singapore’s Food Revolution Day was held at The Lawn, happening correspondingly with 30 countries, 285 cities –same festival, same objectives, just different venues, and time zones.

The event was a great success! Huge thanks to The Lawn for sponsoring the venue and a big thank you to those who showed up.
People from all walks of life, gaining insights on healthy eating; making new friends with like-minded foodies; enjoying the fun and festive events sedulously organised by the FoodrevSG team, made all the hard work worthwhile. Kudos to the team!
Humorous emcee Smith engaged, energised and brought fun and entertainment to the crowd throughout the day.
Here are some highlights of the event:
Vanessa Mcnamara (The Travelling Dietician), an accredited dietician, gave a speech and shared her food philosophies. Audiences listened attentively and marvelled at the vibrant colours of nature’s finest creations –fresh produce.
Booths set up just outside The Lawn by sponsors, include:
Baked and Eaten
The Gourmet Pie Company, LoveRedDragon, Soyato, Mekhala and more!
The best part is, everyone got to walk away with goodies bags ($30 worth of Naturel products)!
Indoors, the lawn was packed beyond its usual capacity with audiences snagging up seats, eager to digest helpful and healthy cooking tips.
After watching the cooking demonstrations, I’m sure the little chefs in us bloom with an indomitable urge to cook.

As night falls, Acoustic Saturday, a local band versatile in all genres of music, serenades the crowd while we indulged in delectable sustenance.
Other performers include: Shawn Lee, currently Asia’s No.1 beatboxer, and hip hop dance performers.
Product designer and photographer, Kelvin Yong, shared his passion for photography and helpful tips on how to capture food beautifully on camera, inspiring budding food photographers and enthusiasts.
The Lawn
The Lawn Grill & Salad Café launched in November 2011 at Biopolis, is a new addition to the salad scene in Singapore.
We got to sample 7 different salad dressings concocted by The Lawn.
Home-made dressings to complement your salad include: Red Island, Honeyball, Perky Sesame Ginger, Maple Peanut, Me So Spicy, Citrus Dressing, Walk Like Johnny and Truffle Vinaigrette.
They introduced a new dressing that incorporates Wasabi –that’s my favourite dressing of the lot!
How to order?
Just follow three simple steps:
1) Choose your serving size: Pot or Bowl
Pot (2 Grills + 6 Toppings + Greens) $10.90
Bowl (1 Grill + 4 Toppings + Greens) $8.90
2) Choose your grill
(Grilled Chicken breast with Maple infusion, Char-grilled Chicken breast with Herbs infusion, Char-grilled Garlic Prawns, Emperor Snapper with fresh herbs, Aceto Balsamico Beef Cuts, Ben’s Beef Rub or Portobello Mushroom)
The Emperor Snapper with fresh herbs, Portobello Mushroom and the Chicken breast with Herbs infusion are my top picks!
3) Choose your greens, toppings and dressings.
A wide selection of toppings is available:
Black Beans, Bean Sprouts, Brocolli, Tofu, Bacon Bits, Crouton, Green Beans, Alfafa Sprouts, Button White Mushroom, Black Sliced Olives, Cherry Tomatoes, Corn, Eggs, Walnut, Pinenut, Almond, Raisins, Parmesan Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, Fusilli Pasta, Blue Cheese, Goat Cheese, Blueberry, Strawberry and more!
Portobello Mushroom with Red Island dressing works perfectly together. Hazel certainly made the right choice!
I paired the Emperor Snapper with the wasabi dressing –I absolutely love the flavour combination.
Fish is moist and tender, with no fishy stench.
I would definitely go back to The Lawn for its laid-back environment and delectable healthy eats.
