Mark your calendars, as Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day 2014 will be happening on 8 April, from 12pm. All fans get to enjoy a free scoop of ice cream at the scoop shops: Vivocity, Dempsey, Great World City and Singapore Zoo.

Ben & Jerry’s will also be on the wheels for the first time in Singapore, bringing Free Cone Day to those who can’t head down to the scoop shops. Free Cone Day on Wheels will also be delivering ice cream straight to the doorstep of their adopted charity! Free Cone Day on Wheels locations will be announced on Ben & Jerry’s Facebook page.

The upcoming Eu Yan Sang Dinner on 31 March 2014 featuring International Masterchef Arron Huang and Hosting Chef Yong Bing Ngen at Majestic Restaurant is an exemplar of healthy indulgence. The two acclaimed chefs will be combining their prowess in Chinese culinary with the virtues of some of the finest traditional Chinese medicinal herbs from Eu Yan Sang, presenting a well-balanced and nutritious 6-course meal.

Din Tai Fung’s Art of Making Xiao Long Bao hands-on Workshop with The Lion Men

Screaming fans lined up outside the entrance of Suntec’s Din Tai Fung on 12 February 2014, anticipating the arrival of the lead actors, Wei Liang and Tosh from Jack Neo’s latest movie, The Lion Men, who arrived in a trishaw in style accompanied by the vibrancy of a lion dance performance.

Fans and several members of the media partook in the Xiao Long Bao culinary workshop, which started with a demonstration, followed by a hands-on session, and ends with a sumptuous Lo Hei High Tea session.

Asian Masters 2013 – Absolut Expressions by The Disgruntled Chef

Presenting innovative gastronomic experiences accompanied by unexpected libations, Asian Masters returns for its fourth edition from 1 November to 7 December 2013.

Making special appearances at Asian Masters are two chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants – Chef Mok Kit Keung from Hong Kong and Chef Hajime Yoneda from Japan – as well as celebrity Chef Chumpol Jangprai who is known as the Iron Chef of Thai Cuisine, and Chef Alex Kang from Korea.

Besides having the traditional wine pairing dinners, there will be innovative cocktail and whisky pairing dinners that are bound to pique contemporary palates.

The Absolut Expressions by The Disgruntled Chef that was held on 19 November 2013 pairs modern European cuisine with inventive cocktails concocted using vodkas by Absolut.

The lovely dining experience began with some light canapés that include the Truffle Bikini Sandwich, Wild Mushroom & Chorizo Tart and the Tomato & Mozzarella Skewers.

We couldn’t get enough of the tiny but immensely tasty Wild Mushroom & Chorizo Tart.

Refreshing drinks to kick off the evening include the Royal Kurant comprising Absolut Kurant, Crème De Cassis, Lime, Basil and Champagne, and the Lucky Lemonade comprising Absolut Citron, Lemon, Lime, Cranberry, Blueberry and Lemonade.

SAFRA Photo Convention –a great opportunity for photography enthusiasts to elevate their photography skills!

SAFRA Photographic Club will be hosting the SAFRA Photo Convention on Sat, 23 November 2013 at SAFRA Mount Faber. SAFRA Photo Convention is held biennially and usually a renowned overseas photographer will be invited to speak on a particular theme.

This year, SAFRA Photographic Club decides to focus on areas of conflict and peace, calling attention to the importance of National Service, with the aim of highlighting NSmen’s role in national defence.

There are two parts to this convention: an enriching talk and an Adobe’s photo-enhancing workshop.

Look forward to the exciting exhibition of famous photographer Adam Ferguson from his assignments in Afghanistan and Iraq, and hear all about his experience.

Photography enthusiasts can also take this opportunity to enhance their photo-enhancing skills at the Adobe’s workshop, which is included in the ticket price.

Some background info on Chef Gabriele: He started out at Michelin-star kitchens in Italy, namely Ristorante Antica Zecca and Ristorante Antica Osteria del Bai, before arriving in Singapore in 2001. His previous appointments were at Senso Ristorante, Hotel Michael and as Executive Chef at Alkaff Mansion Restaurant before Gabriele decided to strike out on his own. The Tuscan-born chef now shares his native tradition and food as Executive Chef and Co-Owner of Burlamacco Ristorante.

Chef Beppe de Vito of Il Lido celebrates the cuisine of his home region Puglia during this exquisite dinner, showcasing a range of ingredients that have been foraged from the forest and flown in specially for this occasion. RWS Food Affair: A 9-day showcase of 6 Celebrity Chefs (14 to 22 September 2013)

The inaugural RWS Food Affair takes place from 14 to 22 September 2013, showcasing the prowess and expertise of six celebrity chefs with their specially crafted menus exclusive to this gastronomic event.

The climax of the RWS Food Affair is an opulent 6-course dinner in a magnificent setting at S.E.A Aquarium, happening on 18 September, which features the cuisines of Chef Joël Robuchon, Chef Sam Leong from Forest, Chef Li Kwok Kwong from Feng Shui Inn, Chef Cat Cora from Ocean, Chef Douglas Tay from Osia and Executive Pastry Chef Kenny Kong, who each designed a course for this dinner.

(Post-event) Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC)

The sixth edition of the highly anticipated annual Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention (STGCC) happened over the weekend on 31 August and 1 September 2013 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Marina Bay Sands. This is the time of the year where Western comics, toys and games, and Eastern anime, manga and cosplay congregate.

As the leading show in Southeast Asia that unites the best in pop culture from the East and West, STGCC has set a new record attendance of close to 40,000 local and regional visitors this year, a compelling growth from 35,000 visitors last year.

One of the highlights this year is the Hall of Armour, a project by Hot Toys and Action City, presenting exact life-size figurines from Tony Stark’s Malibu Mansion in the Iron Man 3 blockbuster.

Fans got to meet the people behind Marvel Comics, including Adi Granov, the designer behind Iron Man’s trademark red and gold armour on the silver screens, as well as David Mack, famed for his works Daredevil and KABUKI, Joe Madureira, Leinil Yu, Dexter Soy, Stephen Segovia and more, as they share exclusive art, insights into their work, and what it’s like working for the biggest comic book company on the planet.
